It seems kind of odd to be writing about Valentine’s Day in April, but love is not just a one-day thing-it’s continual and selfless. I was given the perfect example of this while walking with my puppy on Valentines morning. It was a beautiful day, the ocean quietly sang and the whole world just seemed happy. I had my puppy, so I was even happier:) As I walked along the shoreline, I quite possibly saw the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen…… an elderly couple, seated underneath a striped beach umbrella. Two coffee cups and a dozen of roses. They were sitting there, the ocean breeze blowing back their grayed hair, looking into each other’s lined face. Breathing in the ocean air, the day, and lovingly doing it together. I have never seen anything so amazing on Valentines. They weren’t newly married. They didn’t have their “whole life before them”. But they had each other, and they took time to appreciate that fact. They spied my puppy……and somehow. I made their day even better. Puppies just have a way of doing that. People have always said that dogs have a way of knowing peoples characters, but I think that a puppy brings out the best in everyone.

Love should be selfless and continual. Not just a one day thing, but an everyday love. A love that says, “ I’m going to care for you everyday, and when we are old” A love that is forever.
